Insert from Osbert of Clare. P. 101, note 253: 'Windsor, one of the estates claimed by Westminster as the gift of Edward 15 in Dec. 1065 and listed in the instruments forged probably by Osbert, had been acquired and lost by 1086. The Conqueror gave the abbey Battersea in compensation'.
