Description |
Vitalian 1 sent for Hadrian 2 and ordered him to accept the bishopric and go to Britain. Hadrian 2 answered that he was unworthy of such a rank and suggested a certain monk (Andrew 2) instead. The latter could not go because of his infirmities. Hadrian 2 then had to accept, but he also asked for a respite to see if he could find a man suitable to be consecrated bishop. He then proposed Theodore 1 to the pope. |
