(Bishop of York and Saint, d.709) : When they reached Lyons, Wilfrid 2 was held back by Dalfinus 1. When he reached Rome, he devoted himself to constant prayer and the study of ecclesiastical matters.
(Archbishop of Lyons) : He supplied Wilfrid 2 and his companions with all they needed. Furthermore he offered WIlfrid a considerable part of Gaul to rule over, his unmarried niece as his wife, and to adopt him as his son. But Wilfrid 2 had decided to go and set out for Rome. The bishop provided him with a guide for his journey and an abundance of all things necessary for the road.
