Furthermore he offered WIlfrid a considerable part of Gaul to rule over, his unmarried niece as his wife, and to adopt him as his son. But Wilfrid 2 had decided to go and set out for Rome. The bishop provided him with a guide for his journey and an abundance of all things necessary for the road.
