(Missionary; archbishop of the Frisians, 695-739; abbot of Echternach, 697/698-739) : When [Willibrord 1] saw that his fellow servants (Anonymi 1170) were faring badly because of the severity of their thirst, he called one of them (Anonymous 394) and directed him to open up a small trench inside his tent, where secretly, on bended knees, he prayed to God to produce water for his servants from the sandy soil. Suddenly a spring of the sweetest savour filled the trench.
(Fellow servants with Willibrord 1 on a preaching trip along the coast) : Those who saw this, gave thanks to God. They drank their fill and took care to carry as much as seemed necessary with them on their intended journey.
