*@Swanton 1996, p. 93 n. 14, comments: 'Presumably in Kent, but not certainly identified.' He observes on p. 156 n. 8 that whereas the primary sense of 'holm' was 'wave, sea', this 'meaning is borrowed from Old Norse holmr "an island, especially in a river or creek"....'
*@Wainwright 1975, p. 390, argues that the battle occurred on 12 or 13 December 902.
