Description The body of Ecgwine 1 was taken to the monastery he had built. It was kept with great veneration and funeral chanting until such time as Requiem Mass could be sung for him according to monastic custom. His obsequies were in no way similar to a funeral, but were a sort of celebration. His body was placed in that spot which he had previously chosen.
