(Bishop of York and Saint, d.709) : Wilfrid 2 had sent writings to the Apostolic See. The pope (Agatho 2), learning that he was outside the secretarium, ordered that he be admitted with his petition. Wilfrid 2 requested that the petition be received and read. His petition requested that the usurpers be driven from his see. If it was decided to appoint bishops to that see, he asked the pope that the archbishop and his fellow-bishops should choose such bishops from his own clergy.

(I, pope, 678-681) : Agatho 2 stated that he called the synod to learn about and deal with the dissension that had recently arisen among the churches of the island of Britain. He ordered that Wilfrid 2 present his petition in person. After the petition he expressed his approval at Wilfrid 2's conduct. With the whole synod he rendered judgment that Wilfrid 2 should receive back his bishopric and that he should choose fellow-bishops with the consent of a council assembled there. He ordered Wilfrid 2 to return to his country carrying these written commands to Theodore 1 and Ecgfrith 4.
