(Bishop of York and Saint, d.709) : After the whole community of Ripon (Anonymi 395) had gathered after being summoned by a bell at the command of Wilfrid 2, he entered, sat down and began to speak. He permitted Caelin 1 to return to a life of solitary contemplation. He urged the community (Anonymi 395) to preserve their rule of life until he might return. Tibba 2 and Eabba 1 were, however, present, sent by Ceolred 1 with a request for Wilfrid 2 to confer with him. Should God permit his return, he would name his successor. Otherwise, Anonymi 395 should receive and appoint as abbot the one named by Tibba 2, Eabba 1, Tatberht 2, Hathufrith 1 and Aluhfrith 1, who were sitting near him [as he spoke]. After Anonymi 395 had agreed to fulfil his commands about his successor, he blessed them and commended them to God.
