Description	Being present at a meeting of the witan, Æthelwine 2 said that he could not tolerate monks being expelled from the realm. When the multitude wished to contradict him, Ælfwald 42 got up to speak in support the monks' case. After him, Byrhtnoth 1 also spoke in favour of the monks.
