Agent:
Alcuin 1
(Author, deacon and abbot of Tours, c.735-804) : Alcuin 1 sent this letter to Cyneberht 8so that he should not forget his name because of his long absence. He asked that Cyneberht 8 should order the Anonymi 1924 to show the same spiritual care to Alcuin 1 as he was asked to show. He commented that whereas there was once a multitude of learned men who could preach to the inhabitants of the very famous island of Britain, the workers in the Lord's harvest were few. He encouraged Cyneberht 8 to engage in preaching and not to permit royal power or the arrogance of secular eminence to stop him from speaking the truth.
