Notes:
*As @Dümmler 1895, p. 379 n. 1, points out, Credulus 1 also is mentioned in a poem of Alcuin 1's in Poet. Carol. i.266.
Persons associated with this Event:
- Agent:
Alcuin 1
(Author, deacon and abbot of Tours, c.735-804) : Alcuin 1 feared that Eanbald 2's trouble came because of his landed possessions or because of his support of the enemies (Anonymi 1938) of the king (Anonymous 765). His own possessions should be sufficient for him; he should not seek things belonging to others. Alcuin 1 queried why Eanbald 2 needed so many men (Anonymi 1940) in his comitatus. He would thereby harm the monks (Anonymi 1941) who supported him and his men. Anonymi 1941 had too many subordinate common soldiers (Anonymi 1942). His master (Æthelberht 8) had permitted his bodyguards (Anonymi 1943) to have no more than one (Anonymi 1944), apart from the managers of his household (Anonymi 1945) and they were limited to two (Anonymi 1946). He asked that his friends (Anonymi 1947) remember him in their prayers, especially Eanbald 2, whom he trusted very much. He asked that Credulus 1 and other friends (Anonymi 1947) be greeted on his behalf.
- Recipient:
Caluinus 1
(Priest and monk of the cell of St Stephen) : Alcuin 1 bade Caluinus 1 and Dodo 1 to urge Eanbald 2 to remain faithful.
- Recipient:
Dodo 1
(Pupil of Alcuin 1's) : Alcuin 1 bade Caluinus 1 and Dodo 1 to urge Eanbald 2 to remain faithful.

Eanbald 2
(II, archbishop of York, 796-808x?)
- (Other):

(Enemies of Anonymous 765 in 801) : Alcuin 1 speculated that support for the enemies (Anonymi 1938) of the king (Anonymous 765) may have caused Eanbald 2's troubles.
- (Other):
Anonymous 765
