The land was granted by Bishop Milred 1 to Eanbald 3. Eanbald 3 then passed the land to Eastmund 4 who died and bequeathed it to his kinsmen whereupon the land became the subject of dispute with Worcester 1 because, under the terms of the original grant, it was only supposed to be held by one in holy orders. Eadnoth 4 eventually retained the estate by granting 40 mancuses to Worcester 1 and agreeing to pay an annual render of 15 shillings to the bishop at Tetbury.
