King William notifies all his bishops, earls, reeves and thegns in the shires where Archbishop Lanfranc and Christ Church, Canterbury, have lands that they are to be entitled to their sake and soke, on strand and stream, in woodland and open country, to toll and team, to grithbreach, hamsocn, foresteall, infangenetheof and dlemenafyrmth over their men within and outside boroughs, as fully as the king’s own officers would exercise it, and over Christ Church, and over as many thegns as the king has granted to them. He forbids anyone to take anything from them, because he has given these rights as King Edward had previously done.
