Description
King William commands Archbishop Lanfranc, Bishop Geoffrey of Coutances, Count Robert of Eu, and Hugh de Montfort to reseise Abbot Scotland and the abbey of St Augustine’s, Canterbury, of Fordwich, which Hamo the sheriff is holding and of all the other lands which Abbot Æthelsige [Alsinus], his fugitive [fugitives meus], has given away or allowed to be alienated through carelessness, fear or greed. If anyone has taken anything away violently, they are to be forced to give it back.
