Description [In the time of King Edward 2] Eadred 30 son of Ricsige 1 rode westwards across the mountains and slew Prince Eardwulf 19, seized his wife [Anonymous 10135], violating the peace and the will of the people, and fled to the protection of St Cuthbert's 1 and remained there for three years, peacefully cultivating the land presented to him by Bishop Cuthheard 2 and the congregation, from Chester-le-Street as far as river Derwent, and from there as far as the Wear toward the south, and from there as far as the road which if called Dere Street to the west and south, and (also) the vill upon the Tees which is called Gainford and whatever pertains to it. The same Eadred 30 faithfully held this land in fealty to St Cuthbert 1 and faithfully rendered the assessment for it until King Ragnald 1, having again gathered an army, fought at Corbridge and slew this same Eadred 30 and a very great multitude of English, and being victorious seized all that land which Eadred 30 held from St Cuthbert's 1 and gave it to Esbriht 1, the son of Eadred 30, and to his brother count Ælfstan 85, who were staunch warriors in this battle. Finally this same accused king perished.
