Discussion of the name

Leofcwen is an Old English feminine name comprising the elements lēof ‘dear’ and cwēn ‘woman, wife, queen’.

The only entries in the PASE corpus are for Leofcwen 1, granted land in Suffolk before c.1038, and Leofcwen 2, a catch-all category for occurrences of this name in DB; there are further instances of the name in the twelfth century (von Feilitzen 1945: 84).
