Ælfthryth is an Old English feminine name comprising the elements ælf ‘elf, sprite’ and þryð ‘might, splendour’.

There are 12 entries for Ælfthryth in the PASE corpus, of which Ælfthryth 1-11 occur between the seventh and tenth centuries and Ælfthryth 12 is a catch-all for occurrences in DB; there is also an entry for Ealfthryth 1, a form from a ninth-century charter (S 1439) that should be reclassified as the name Ælfthryth 13.
