Cynewine is an Old English masculine name comprising the elements cynn ‘rank, family, kin’ and wine ‘friend, protector, lord’.

The only entries in the PASE corpus are for Cynewine 1 and Cynewine 2, who were religious at Winchester and Ely respectively during the later tenth or early eleventh century, and Cynewine 3, a catch-all category for occurrences of this name in DB.
