Discussion of the name

Api is an Old Danish masculine name derived from the word for ‘fool’ and originally used as a byname (Fellows Jensen 1968: 11).

The only entries in the PASE corpus are for Ape 1, a catch-all category for occurrences of this form in DB, and for Appe 1, a tenth-century occurrence of a related form.
