Toxus is a masculine name of uncertain derivation; von Feilitzen (1937: 388) suggested that it could represent a nickname from Old English tosca, toxa ‘toad, frog’ or tūsc, tūx ‘grinder, tusk’.There are no entries related to this name in the PASE corpus.
