Discussion of the name

The DB spellings of this name are ambiguous and von Feilitzen (1937: 376) regarded the name as uncertain but probably Scandinavian; however, Dodgson (1985: 46) pointed out that a common scribal confusion of minuscule ‘t’ for ‘c’ would yield the Old Norse masculine name Skræmir (cf. Fellows Jensen 1968: 253-4), and this interpretation is adopted here.

The only associated entry in the PASE corpus is Strami 1, a catch-all category for this spelling in DB.
