Discussion of the name
Selewine is an Old English masculine name comprising the elements sele ‘hall, house, dwelling’ and wine ‘friend, protector, lord’.The only entry in the PASE corpus is for Selewine 1, a catch-all category for occurrences in DB. Although von Feilitzen (1937: 357) regarded the name as otherwise unrecorded, Pelteret (1990: 103) interprets a form Saluin from post-Conquest Exeter as Selewine.
