Discussion of the name
Seisyll is a Welsh masculine name, common in Wales throughout the earlier and central Middle Ages (Bartrum 1974: V, 78, 172–3; Davies 1979: index; Pryce 2005: index).Although von Feilitzen (1937: 351) was technically correct that the form Seisi could represent OE Saxi, his convoluted explanation is unnecessary in light of the identification of Seisyll 2.
