Discussion of the name

Osgifu is an Old English feminine name comprising the elements ōs ‘divinity, god’ and gifu ‘gift’.

The only entry in the PASE corpus is for Osgifu 1, wife of the eighth-century Northumbrian king Alhred 1; Searle cites a further example from the Durham Liber Vitae (Searle 1897: 374); and the PASE corpus also includes an entry for Odeua 1, a catch-all category for occurrences of this name in DB.
