Ordweald is an Old English masculine name comprising the elements ord ‘point, spear-point, spear’ and weald ‘power, dominion; ruler’.The only specific entry in the PASE corpus is for Ordweald 1, a catch-all category for occurrences in DB; but there are two entries for the form Ordwald representing one or two thegns in the mid-tenth century, and for this reason the profiles given here commence with Ordweald 3.
