Discussion of the name
Einger is a masculine name of uncertain derivation. Von Feilitzen (1937: 246) regarded it as a Continental Germanic name *Einger but noted that no such name was recorded; alternatives might be an Old Danish *Enger or an Old Norse *Eingeirr, from ein ‘one, alone, single’ and geirr ‘spear’, for which there is at least some indirect East Scandinavian evidence (cf. Forssner 1916: 66).The only entry in the PASE corpus is for Einger 1, a catch-all for occurrences in DB.
