Discussion of the name

Engelbert is a Continental Germanic masculine name comprising the elements Engel, from the folk-name Angle but subject to confusion with Ingel, and beraht ‘light, bright’ (Forssner 1916: 70-2; Smart 2009: 144-5).

The only entries in the PASE corpus are for Engelbert 1, a catch-all for occurrences in DB, and for Ingalbert 1-4, representing moneyers active between 925 and 972.
