Discussion of the name
Tunbi is a Scandinavian masculine name but of uncertain derivation. Von Feilitzen suggested it was an error for Old Danish *Tumbi, which occurs in Somerset TRE and Suffolk TRW and may be a hypocoristic form of a name such as Thormoth or Thormund (von Feilitzen 1937: 388); Fellows Jensen (1968: 293) thought that *Tumbi might be an Anglo-Scandinavian formation.Bibliography
