Discussion of the name

Magni is an Old Norse or Old Danish masculine name developed either as a short form of names in Magn- (originally from Latin magnus ‘great’) or as a side-form of Magnus; there is occasional confusion with the name Manni, and one instance of Magno in DB in fact refers to Manni 4 (Smith 1928: 274; von Feilitzen 1937: 323-4; Fellows Jensen 1968: 192).
