Discussion of the name

The name

Jovin is an Old French masculine name of uncertain derivation. Although Forssner (1916: 286) and von Feilitzen suggested that it developed from a Continental Germanic name Gautwin (von Feilitzen 1937: 301), it is more likely that it comes from the Latin saint’s name Jovinus (Thorn and Thorn 1979: Notes to 1,4).
