Discussion of the name
Dufe is a feminine name derived from either Old English *dūfe ‘dove’ or one of its Scandinavian cognates, perhaps developing from a byname (von Feilitzen 1937: 227; Fellows Jensen 1968: 73).The only entries in the PASE corpus are for Dufe 1, a late tenth- or early eleventh-century slave in Hertfordshire, and Dufe 2, a catch-all for occurrences of this name in DB.
