Discussion of the name

Ealhmund is an Old English masculine name formed from the elements ealh ‘temple’ and mund ‘protection’. It seems to have been in widespread use from the eighth century into the very early tenth, but only two persons of the name living after 910 are currently recorded in PASE, a moneyer of the pre-reform coinage in Edgar’s reign (Ealhmund 29) and a Norfolk landowner of the very early eleventh century (Ealhmund 1).
