Discussion of the name
Wigflæd is an Old English feminine name comprising the elements wīg ‘strife, war, valour’ and flæd ‘beauty’.The only entry in the PASE corpus is for Wigflæd 1, a catch-all category for occurrences in DB. The name would seem to be extremely rare because it is not otherwise evidenced in surviving sources, but the elements wīg and flæd are common in the formation of other OE personal names.
