Winge is probably an Old Danish masculine name vinge related to Old Norse vǽngr ‘wing’ that occurs as a byname elsewhere (Björkman 1910: 175; Redin 1919: 128; von Feilitzen 1937: 416).There are no pre-Domesday occurrences of this name in the PASE corpus.
