Discussion of the name

Wulfgyth is an Old English feminine name comprising the elements wulf ‘wolf’ and gyð ‘combat, battle, war’; confusion with some forms of the masculine name Wulfgeat is possible if the gender of the bearer is not known (von Feilitzen 1937: 280-1, 419-20).
