Discussion of the name

Beorhtmann is an Old English masculine name comprising the elements beorht ‘bright, distinguished, pure’ and mann ‘person, man’, formed either as an original compound or else as a hypocoristic form of a name in Beorht- (von Feilitzen 1937: 194; cf. Insley 2003: 379).

The only entries in the PASE corpus are for Beorhtmann 1, a cniht of the abbot of Ramsey who occurs c.1055 (S 1481a), and Beorhtmann 2, a catch-all for occurrences in DB.
