Beorhtmann is an Old English masculine name comprising the elements beorht ‘bright, distinguished, pure’ and mann ‘person, man’, formed either as an original compound or else as a hypocoristic form of a name in Beorht- (von Feilitzen 1937: 194; cf. Insley 2003: 379).The only entries in the PASE corpus are for Beorhtmann 1, a cniht of the abbot of Ramsey who occurs c.1055 (S 1481a), and Beorhtmann 2, a catch-all for occurrences in DB.
