Discussion of the name

Rathi is a masculine Scandinavian name which originated in a byname formed as the weak version of the ON word hraðr (‘quick, swift’). It was not much used anywhere in Scandinavia as either byname or personal name, and in England, apart from DB, it has been noted only in the place-name Raithby by Spilsby (Lincs.) (Insley 1994: 204–5).
