Adelelm 3’s name is spelt Adelelmus in DB, which indicates a derivation from the Continental Germanic name Adelelm (von Feilitzen 1937: 78-9, 184).  No other TRE landholder had this name, nor is there any discernable connection between Adelelm 3 and the post-Conquest men of that name.

It is unusual but not exceptional for a man with a continental name and probably continental origins to be holding land in pre-Conquest England.

No name is given for Adelelm 3’s estate in DB and so its precise location is uncertain, although it clearly lay in Worth Hundred in east Kent.  The fact that the TRE assessment combined yokes and virgates could indicate that the latter represented reclaimed marshland (on which point it is worth noting that some other places in Worth Hundred abutted the northern edge of Romney Marsh).
