Profile
Doding 3’s name was extremely rare but his estate was very small and, at nearly 40 miles, too far distant for any connection between him and other people of that name TRE to be considered. His estate was the smallest of three TRE estates at Waldridge (Buckinghamshire), which as its name suggests lay on a low ridge projecting into an area of flat land between the Standbridge Brook and another minor tributary of the River Thame in west Buckinghamshire. DB states that he was the man of Esgar the Staller (Esgar 2), presumably by commendation since DB also notes that Doding could sell his land and thus was not a dependent tenant. The other two small estates at Waldridge were held TRE by sokemen, unnamed in DB, who had different lords and they do not appear to have had any further association with Doding.
