Profile
Herk 3’s estate was the smallest of three such holdings at Littlecote, on sloping ground in the hills of central Buckinghamshire. DB states that he could sell this land, indicating the he had the power of alienation, and that he was the man of Beorhtric, who was presumably his lord by commendation.Although the name Herk was extremely rare, Herk 3’s estate was 75 miles from that of Herk 2 and too far distant for a connection between them to be considered; furthermore, they had different lords TRE and different post-Conquest successors.
