Profile

Hueta 2’s estate was at Boduel, just west of Liskeard in east Cornwall. It was the only estate held TRE by someone called Hueta (or Hueche) and he was explicitly said to be the same as the TRW holder of that estate, albeit then as a subtenant of Robert, count of Mortain (Robert 9).

Even allowing for its apparent under-assessment in DB Hueta 2’s holding was probably small, having land for only one plough in 1086. With half a plough-team present together with 10 acres of woodland and 60 acres of meadow it appears that Hueta 2’s estate was then practicing a mixed agriculture, with DB recording a dependent population of 1 slave, 2 villans and 3 bordars.
