Profile

Even allowing for its apparent under-assessment TRE in Domesday Book, Jovin 2’s holding in central Cornwall, on the edge of White Moor about 1½ miles from St Dennis, was not large. It was the only estate held TRE by someone called Jovin and he was explicitly said to be the same person as the TRW subtenant of that estate. Since all of the thirteen TRW estates held by someone called Jovin are grouped together in DB as a single fief, it is clear that the whole fief was that of Jovin 2. His TRW estates had been in the hands of various TRE holders and no real pattern to his succession is apparent, although three had been held by a Beorhtsige and two seem to have been manors that King Harold (Harold 3) had acquired after his accession and had then passed on to his mother (Gytha 1).
