Profile
Waso 2’s holding was small, even if allowance is made for its apparent TRE under-assessment in Domesday Book. It was the only estate held TRE by someone called Waso and shows no link to the person or persons of that or a similar name who were holding land in Oxfordshire and Surrey TRW.The Domesday Book form Trerihoc suggests that the precise location of Waso 2’s estate is far more likely to have been at Trefreock (from Old Cornish tre(f)-*frieuc, probably ‘estate, farmstead associated with someone called *Frieuc’) as suggested in the Alecto edition than at nearby Trevigue as suggested in the Phillimore edition.
