Profile
The name spelled Hedul is entirely acceptable as a form of Eadwulf, though it has gained a letter at the beginning and lost one at the end (von Feilitzen 1937: 240). Thurvaston, in the southern lowlands of Derbyshire, was less than 10 miles from Okeover (Staffs.), which Eadwulf 70 held as tenant of Burton abbey in 1086. Conceivably they were the same man, especially since the abbey had interests in south Derbyshire, though not especially close to Thurvaston. Otherwise, Eadwulf 64’s holding was too far from any of the other Eadwulfs for them to have been the same person.Bibliography
