Profile
Snot 2’s little estate was at Stancombe, a small tributary valley feeding down to the Kingsbridge Estuary in south Devon.Snot’s name was extremely rare and may be related to that of the equally rare Snotta 2, whose ½ hide TRE estate lay only 6¾ miles to the north-west of Stancombe and which is close enough for a possible connection between the two to be considered. Against this possibility, however, is that their estates passed to different TRW successors, although this need not be conclusive. More significant perhaps is the uncertainty over Snotta 2’s actual name, which the DB spelling suggests could have been related to Snodd(a) rather than Snot. On balance, it seems more likely that Snot 2 and Snotta 2 should be treated as separate people.
