Profile
Bosi 3’s estate was at Wyggepet, which can be identified with the modern Rockell’s Farm in north-west Essex, on a Roman road close to where it crosses Wicken Water towards Great Chesterford (Reaney 1935: 526-7). DB records that Bosi was a free man and held his land ‘as a manor’ but reveals little else about him. His manor was among those appropriated by Geoffrey de Mandeville (Geoffrey 5) before 1086.This was the only estate recorded in DB as being held TRE by someone called Bosi (although Bosi 2 occurs as a patronymic in Norfolk and Bosi occurs as an erroneous spelling for Bisi 3, these relate to places more than 40 miles from Rockells), so there is no reason to consider Bosi 3 in connection with any other estate or person.
