(Unknown Person)’s small Gloucestershire estate was at Shipton Solers in the Cotswolds, about 5½ miles east-south-east of Cheltenham.  He held it both TRE and in 1086, by which time he was a subtenant of Thomas 2, the archbishop of York.  DB gives no indication as to Gundulf’s pre-Conquest lord, if any, not does it provide details of his holding in 1086 beyond that he had one plough in demesne.

There is no reason to associate (Unknown Person) with the only other TRE landholder of that name in DB, because their estates were both relatively small and more than 110 miles apart.
