Profile
Wulffrith 3 was one of three thegns (the others being Tovi and Thorbiorn) who held 4 hides at Temple Guiting in north Gloucestershire as three manors TRE. After the Conquest these manors passed to Gerwy de Loges, whose widow later granted the estate to St Peter’s Abbey, Gloucester (Hart 1863-7: 1 80-1).Wulffrith 3’s share of the 4 hides is likely to have been too small and (at over 60 miles) too distant for him to be the same as Wulffrith 2, the holder of an estate in Somerset TRE.
