Profile
The 5-hide manor of Sollers Hope, amid the hills of the Woolhope area 7 or 8 miles south-east of Hereford, belonged TRE to a Haghni who had full power of alienation. The suggestion made elsewhere that he may have been identical with Haghni of Norfolk, on the grounds that Earl Harold was earl in East Anglia before he became earl in Herefordshire (Lewis 1988: 12), can now on balance be discounted. Although the name was relatively uncommon, there were most likely three separate Haghnis in Norfolk, none of whom is known to have had any connection with Harold.Bibliography
