Bibliography
Huscarl 7 was one of nine free men with small holdings at Wallington in west Norfolk, on gently sloping ground to the east of the River Ouse. All of the other holdings, the soke of which belonged to Hulme Abbey TRE, were held by a different post-Conquest lord from that of Huscarl’s former estate in 1086, which suggests that there was no significant association between Huscarl and the other pre-Conquest landholders at Wallington.
Huscarl 7’s holding was small and, at nearly 30 miles, probably too far distant from any other held TRE by someone of that name for a connection between them to be considered despite the relative rarity of the name.
